Winchester Geese

Inspired by the history of the Crossbones Graveyard, this play tells the stories of Avis, Cecily, and Bridget, three young women stuck on earth since their burials, all of whom spend their afterlives clinging onto the hope of one day being remembered.

This piece came out of a playwriting course in the spring of 2019 and an accidentally history lesson while scrolling through the Internet. When hearing about the history of the Crossbones Graveyard, located in London, I was immediately drawn to the idea of a person being an outcast, even in death. When given the opportunity to write a one act play on any subject, the fictional story of Avis, Cecily, and Bridget, combined with the dramaturgical aspects of the real Crossbones Graveyard, began to take shape.

Winchester Geese received a reading with the #FuckZoom Playwriting Festival. It featured performances by Korinne Yonan, Maddy Kelly, and Chamaya Moody, and was

directed by Pierce Livingston.
