IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE
A Full-Length Play; Two Hours

Based on the Faustus myth, a young woman sells her soul to the Devil in order to spark creativity. Told through poetry and dialogue, this play focuses on what to make of a limited time left on earth, asking the question of if it is better to be known well or well-known.

IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE started being written the day that many universities throughout the United States announced their closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, marking a series of six months that allowed me as much time as possible to write. While I have always had an interest in adaptation, Marlowe's Doctor Faustus had captured my interest the moment I had read it. I believe now more than ever that there is a concern of how much time we as humans have left on earth, and I found this play to be the medium to explore it.
REVIEWS
"What a completely engaging page turner! The dialogue moves like lightning, sprinkled with humor, magic, love, demons, and poetry. The characters are well-drawn and demand the reader's attention...just as they would from the audience. The text asks some bold questions and isn't afraid to answer them, often in very explosive and surprising ways. It reads as a piece that would be delightful to stage, providing welcomed challenges for actors and designers."
